Father’s Day is Better than Ever in 2011
U.S. centers can look forward to a great Father’s Day, according to a survey by Brand Keys. And of course, so are dads.
With a polling sample of 5000 American men and women, ages 18-60, the organization has discovered some interesting things about Father’s Day this year. For one thing, shoppers will be spending more than ever, with a 7% rise in spending expected. The average shopper will be spending $123.00 on Dad’s big day. About 71% of shoppers will be making Father’s Day purchases this year, about the same as last year.
The top areas they’ll be spending are gift cards, with 35% of planned purchases, electronics, with 26%, and clothing, with 23%. Media like books, movies and music are a distant last place. The focus on electronics is interesting – it’s a 6% increase over last year in that category, suggesting that shoppers are up for making bigger purchases again. Tablets and e-readers are particularly popular options.
Whatever they’re planning to buy, though, it’s great to see that shoppers are ready to celebrate their fathers. So how is your center celebrating Father’s Day this year?
