Fathers Are Heroes at Erith Riverside
Parenting can be pretty heroic when you’re doing it well, and Erith Riverside wanted to recognize that fact this Father’s Day. Over the weekend it held a Superhero Fun day for all the dads and families in its community.
Shoppers had the chance to get their photos taken as real life heroes before a giant Superman-esque cutout. Little ones also had their chance at heroism: they were invited to come in Fancy Dress as superheroes, complete with a Fisher-Prize batcave as a prize for the best dressed. For those who didn’t have their own masks on hand, a free face painter transformed the kids into mini-Spidermen, Captain Americas and more.
Local storyteller Tony Cranston told youngsters tales of heroes and warriors, and staff from the shopping center dressed up too. Folks from Specsavers dressed up as their favorite heroes to sell cakes to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
“It was lovely to see all the families enjoying themselves at our Superhero fun day,” said Barry Owen, centre manager. “The children certainly had fun – as did the adults! On behalf of everyone here at Erith Riverside I hope all the dads out there had a lovely Father’s Day.”
