Fareham Shoppers Get Wrapped Up in Christmas Hours
The first few evenings of late-night holiday shopping hours can be slow as shoppers adapt to the changes. Come mid-December, no one could imagine closing earlier, but retailers have some long, lonely evenings in those first few days.
Fareham Shopping Centre decided not to leave that adjustment to chance this year. To kick off the start of its seasonal Late Night Shopping hours, the center held a fun gathering with its shoppers. Along with a late evening of Christmas shopping, revelers could enjoy the Centre’s Charity Wrap Race. Armed with a pair of scissors, gift wrap and tape, shoppers were pitted against each other – and a stopwatch – in a bid to wrap an awkwardly-shaped object as quickly as possible. The items that were wrapped were all loaned by Fareham’s retailers.
Rounds were held throughout the evening, after a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by the Mayor and Mayoress of Fareham. Throughout the evening, winners of each round of wrapping won a £20 gift voucher from center retailers.
The event benefited the RSPCA’s Stubbington Ark.
