The draw of big prizes
Colonial First State Property Management is banking on a big payout bringing in cash-strapped shoppers. 28 of it Australian shopping centers are offering shoppers a chance to win a $100,000 cash prize.
The contest is completely run-of-the-mill. Enter by spending $100 at a participating retailer, and receive a scratch card (with some retailers awarding a bonus card to eligible entrants). Winners get a share of a $100,000 prize pool, or a large cash prize. A number of the first entrants at each shopping center will also get a free gift.
The chances of winning are slim, but will the potential to turn shopping dollars into a huge prize draw shoppers away from the competition? It’s an interesting gamble.
