Dalton Park Settles In for a Birdwatch

Dalton Park isn’t just an outlet center—that “park” in its name is the real deal. With 55 acres of landscaped parkland, the center has quite a bit to offer for the outdoors-types.

For example, this month the center is taking part in the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds’ (RSPB) ‘Big Schools’ Birdwatch. It’s inviting local school groups to visit the center’s grounds and watch the birdie, so to speak. The event is a chance for teachers and students to learn more about birds and their migratory habits, and also to assist the RSPB with its annual survey.

The survey is a big thing this upcoming weekend. Participants all across the UK will spend an hour birdwatching and filling out a survey that reports on numbers and types of birds spotted. It gives the RSPB the chance to keep track of bird populations and involve the community.

Speaking of the community, it isn’t just schools that Dalton Park is calling on. Anyone else can attend during the ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’

Center manager Jay Hatch looks forward to the birdwatching. “The parkland has become a natural habitat for all forms of wildlife and we want to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy and appreciate their local environment.”
