Dadeland Mall Practices the Art of Giving

This weekend, Dadeland Mall will host South Florida’s first Outsider Art exhibition.

Outsider art is the English synonym for the French “Art Brut,” or rough art. It is art created by those who have little contact with or knowledge of the mainstream art world. The art being featured in The Art of Giving, Dadeland Mall’s upcoming exhibition, was created by local artists with disabilities. Many of the artists will be on hand at Dadeland Mall to discuss their art as a healing therapy and as an expression of their life challenges.

The exhibition is organized in association with Faye Clark’s New Horizons, an organization that provides an adult residential training program for persons with developmental disabilities, and a number of related organizations will be present at the event. Admission to the exhibition is free, and sales of the artworks benefit the artists who created them.
