Community cleanup
President Obama has been working to spread the spirit of service in the US, encouraging Americans to take ownership of their communities. Mesa, Arizona has accepted the call to action, and is holding the first annual Top 2 Bottom event.
Mesa Riverview will be hosting at least 500 volunteers the morning of the event, while they enjoy a light breakfast in one of the shopping center’s parking lots. The volunteers will then take to the streets to clean up their city. They’ll paint public walls and bridges, round up abandoned tires and trash, wash away graffiti, and clean up alleys, vacant lots, and canals.
The city hopes to reduce crime by encouraging citizens to take pride in their city. Mesa Riverview’s participation should reflect very well on the shopping center.
