Cheshire Oaks Recreates Wimbledon

Did you catch the ridiculous, record-breaking 11 hour match at Wimbledon last week? Cheshire Oaks customers sure did, never needing to take their eyes off Isner and Mahut from the comfort of the designer outlet’s painstaking recreation of the All England Club.

Shoppers have been watching the matches on a specially-created turfed seating area, with a giant TV screen, a mini tennis court, and the centres very own ‘Murray Mound’ (a grassy hill favored by spectators at the real Club).

If shopping isn’t enough to keep them busy between matches, the outlet is also holding Wii sports tournaments and games. For an extra-authentic feel, vendors are on-site selling strawberries and cream.

It’s all part of the center’s Summer of Sport, which gives shoppers the chance to win tickets to dozens of international sporting events from Hong Kong to Australia and beyond. According to Shaun Rhodes, marketing manager at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, “Wimbledon suits perfectly our target customer, the ambience we want to create and most importantly is linked to many of our key brands. It’s fantastic to see so many customers relaxing in a deckchair or on the grass whilst watching the tennis. And so far the weather has been perfect!”
