Centro Bankstown Promotes Upcoming White Ribbon Day
November 25 is White Ribbon Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Last week, a group of young male performers were at Centro Bankstown to promote the White Ribbon initiative, representing the Bankstown Youth Development Service (BYDS).
The center court stage show was a precursor to White Ribbon Day, featuring nine different acts that included rappers, break dancers, R&B singers and a slam poet.
BYDS Community Arts Worker Craig Taunton said the performers were mainly local high school students who willingly gave their time to help raise awareness of community issues.
“At BYDS we feel very strongly about the White Ribbon cause and believe it deserves to be promoted as much as possible,” said Taunton. “These young men were delighted to have the opportunity to reinforce this important message to the local community through performance.”
