Cairns Central Develops Designers

704cairnsOver the past few months, Cairns Central has been helping local designers get a leg up on the fashion market and reach out to an eager shopping public. Teaming up with Cairns Emerging Designers (CED), the center welcomed The Fashion Incubator, a monthly market that pops up at the center.

CED is a collaborative fashion label, a group of talented young designers who have come together to produce unique designs and sell them locally. The collaboration with Cairns Central is more than a month pop-up market, too. The center has been working with the designers to get shoppers excited for fresh fashion.

Over June, the center put nine of the emerging designers of CED up against one another. They were invited to select a key trend from the center’s Autumn/Winter Style Report. With that trend in mind, they each styled and dressed Elyse, the Face of Cairns Central, and sketched personal designs that captured their trend of choice.

The center shared the results online, and shoppers were able to vote on the results. Those that did got a shot at a $1000 center gift card and a personal styling session with their chosen student designer.

Cairns Central filmed each of the styles and designers as well. Designer Natalie Taylor was chosen by voters. Here’s her video:
