Cadillac Fairview Takes Black Friday Canada-Wide

1107blackfridayLast year, Cadillac Fairview dipped its toes in the waters of Black Friday, testing out the traditionally American holiday at nine of its Canadian properties. The experiment was a resounding success, and participating retailers saw a significant increase of sales and traffic.

This year, the company is taking the campaign national. “Canadians want to experience Black Friday, whether it’s for the first time or as an alternative to shopping in the U.S.,” said Wendy Greenwood, Director of Marketing, Ontario Portfolio. “Shoppers’ expectations are constantly being raised and Cadillac Fairview properties provide the unique retail experience that Canadian shoppers are looking for. We are proud to have developed a platform to keep shoppers, and their holiday shopping dollars, in Canada.”

21 properties across the country will open early for the shopping holiday, with one, Toronto Eaton Centre, opening its doors at 6:00 a.m. The rest with open either at 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m.

Many Canadian retailers already open early for Black Friday, so the extended hours are a natural fit. To kick things off right, participating centers will give away $10 gift cards to the first 100 shoppers at Guest Services, and centers are planning to reveal more surprises as the day draws nearer.
