Brookside Makes a Game out of Coupons

307brooksideBrookside Shopping Centre made the last couple weeks of February easier for its shoppers with its Big Book of Bargains. It reached out to its retailers to collect 60 deals to share with its shoppers, printed them up in a nice glossy brochure and shared them in-center and online. Deals ranged from a few dollars off snacks to blanket 30% discounts at major retailers—a potentially valuable haul.

Using it strategically was even more valuable. Every day throughout the duration of the bargains, Brookside chose one retailer to feature. At 9 a.m. each morning, the center posted the name of that retailer to Facebook. There was a special reward to be had for one lucky shopper visiting the retailer that day, a $50 gift voucher from Woolworths. Entering to win the card wasn’t just as simple as showing up, though—shoppers had to use the coupon of the retailer in question.

With free money at stake, who’d leave their valuable coupons sitting at the bottom of the junk drawer?
