Bloomingdale’s Rings In the Year of the Horse
We’re entering the Year of the Horse, and Bloomingdale’s is ready to celebrate. The retailer is marking Chinese New Year with unique pop-up shops, merchandise, special events and more this month and next.
Red envelopes are one tradition the retailer has embraced wholeheartedly. Shoppers at many Bloomingdale’s locations can try their luck and get into the spirit by claiming ana envelope, which may contain bMoney cards in denominations of $8, $88 or $888. They might also contain vouchers for tasty treats, limited edition Year of the Horse gift tote bags, special offers at cosmetic counters and more.
“As a company rooted in family and tradition, we look forward to once again celebrating both the Chinese New Year and entire Chinese culture that is deeply rooted in history,” says Tony Spring, Bloomingdale’s president and COO, and newly appointed chairman and CEO effective February 1, 2014. “We welcome Chinese shoppers and tourists, along with all of our loyal shoppers, to join the festivities as we celebrate the Year of the Horse.”
The festivities include cultural events, but they also include shopping. Several locations are debuting pop-up shops filled to the brim with limited-edition must haves from top designers.
