Billings Bridge Turns Lemons into Lemonade


When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right? And then you sell that lemonade, and as a result win fabulous prizes? We’re pretty sure that’s how the saying goes.

Or at the very least, that’s how it goes at Billings Bridge, where a few plucky young entrepreneurs are competing for a big prize. The shopping center has asked its newsletter subscribers and Facebook fans to submit photos of their little ones and their lemonade stands for a chance to win back their startup costs—assuming $200 is enough to cover lemons and cups these days, at least.

As far as the contest itself goes, it’s been a mixed bag. Only four stands have been submitted, though the voting is going strong, and we don’t recommend running contests via likes or directly on your page’s wall if you want to stay within Facebook’s promotional guidelines. But those are the lemons; we’re interested in the lemonade. And Billings Bridge has turned this promotion into some particularly tasty lemonade, including television coverage and a clever opportunity to recommend lemon-related products in its newsletter.

The center is about to announce the winner, and plans a surprise for all the stands that entered. Our hope? Limes. Limeade is vastly underrated.
