Aventura Mall’s Chocoholic Record
Aventura Mall had a tasty sell to get shoppers to support its Guinness World Record attempt over the weekend: Chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.
The center held a Chocolate Festival on Sunday, putting together a terribly indulgent time for its shoppers. It brought together many of South Florida’s most popular restaurants and chocolatiers to whip up some amazing things, decadent displays of edible morsels to tempt any chocolate fan. Cookies and cakes, truffles and brownies.
Those were just the start, however, there to whet the appetite for the main event: the creation of the World’s Largest Chocolate Mousse. Local chefs collaborated over 24 pounds of egg yolk, 108 pounds of chocolate, 20 pounds of sugar, 66 pounds of butter, 50 quarts of heavy cream, and 5 gallons of milk, all in service of a record-breaking 400-pound mousse. Shoppers were invited to watch as they created the massive confection, and then invited to dig in when the deed was done.
The center sold raffle tickets at the event, at $1 for 1 ticket or $10 for 13. Raffle winners took home fabulous prizes, but the biggest prize went to the Children’s Craniofacial Association, who benefitted from ticket purchases.
