Adelaide Center Brings Summer to July

Many of our readers live in the Northern Hemisphere, so this might seem like a strange concept: Centro Colonnades is celebrating summer in July.

Winter in Australia is currently dipping down to freezing, a chilly prospect. So Centro Colonnades has turned itself into a summery paradise. To begin with, it has transformed one if its vacancies into an Octopus’s Garden, filled with clams, conches and seaweed. Children are welcomed inside with free sticker sheets, left to themselves to decorate the room’s white walls and surfaces with friendly octopuses and their sea critter friends.

World-renowned sand artist Jino Van Bruinessen visited the center to carve an underwater fantasy out of sand. The sculpture, created from 5 tons of sand, was created in the center and will be on display through this weekend.

For children who are inspired by Jino’s work, the center is also holding free sand art workshops.
