A Very Canadian Day At West Edmonton Mall

Hockey season might be over, but Canadians still have plenty of room in their hearts for hockey stars during the off season. So for Canada Day, West Edmonton Mall is bringing in a local hero: Paul Lorieau, the man who sung the Canadian national anthem at Edmonton Oilers hockey games for over 30 years.

He’ll be kicking off a day of festivities with his beloved rendition of O Canada (the aforementioned anthem), followed by a meet-and-greet with photo opportunities for his adoring public. Afterwards, shoppers will be given the chance to enjoy themselves with an Attractions Adventure Quest, crafts and birthday cakes to celebration the nation’s big day.

Many centers close for the Canada Day holiday, but taking part in the festivities can be a lot of fun. Even having a presence at community events can make a big difference. Does your center have any Canada plans? And for our U.S. readers, how are your Independence Day plans shaping up?
