How Does 360 Mall’s Garden Grow? Vertically.

Kuwait’s 360 Mall has a new attraction – a “living wall” that is the first of its kind in the country. It’s a Vertical Garden, a concept in green space that’s growing in popularity around the world. Indoor gardens offer a bit of peace in a hectic locale, and a vertical garden has the benefits of both saving space and working beautifully indoors. 360 Mall’s offering includes reflecting pools and koi ponds for added peacefulness.

Vertical gardens allow shopping centers to grow plants without any soil. Seeds are planted in fertilized fabric attached to a wireframe that covers the growing area, and the garden is then free to overtake the whole of it. Watering and fertilization are automated.

360 Mall’s 620 square meter Vertical Garden includes 20,500 plants from over 101 different species. It uses a water based filtering system that does not require any replacement, and purifies the surrounding air. The Gardens both beautify the mall and offer environmental benefits, lowering energy consumption in both winter and summer. It’s a lovely way to bring a bit of nature back into the mall.
