Robina Town Centre Opens Pop-Up Sundeck

RTC Sundeck 3As shoppers enjoy the summer weather on the Gold Coast, Robina Town Centre has what it takes to give them a break. The center has launched the ultimate chill-out zone, its brand new pop-up Sundeck on The Promenade.

How does this sound for a hot, sunny day? A cool haven complete with sun lounges, colourful umbrellas and cushions, comfy bean bags, plenty of shade and live music from some of Queensland’s best acoustic musicians.

The center is going for a laid back, summer vibe. The Sundeck is perfectly positioned to take advantage of cooling breezes across the lake. Shoppers can enjoy an icy drink from one of the Promenade’s restaurants, or a snack while they relax.

Shoppers can also share their fun in the sun on Instragram with the tag #lounginatrobina to enter a draw for designer sunglasses.

Marketing Manager of Robina Town Centre Anna Colville-Smith said the specially designed chill-out zone was the perfect addition to a day out at Robina Town Centre with family and friends.

“We want to provide shoppers of all ages with a one-stop destination where they can sample a variety of music, entertainment and cuisine in the one stylish and comfortable location. After a morning of exploring the shops in air-conditioned comfort, we are inviting shoppers to grab lunch and a cool beverage from a favourite Robina Town Centre eatery before kicking back and enjoying an afternoon of free entertainment,” she said.

Park Royal Brings in Tastes off the Truck

Summer is coming to an end, and with it the days of outdoor concerts and parking lot festivals. That hasn’t stopped Park Royal from sneaking in one more summery event before fall descends.

Taste of the Trucks on the North Shore brought a number of food trucks in from the nearby downtown area. The trucks were chosen carefully to offer the best. There’s Ze Bite, a french restaurant that offers traditional dishes like chicken basquaise and beef bourguinon. Le Tigre Cuisine serves modern Asian cuisine, contemporary interpretations of classic Chinese dishes. Finally, RimFoodBaht brought out authentic Thai food on the go.

Cupcake Vineyards offered a complementary wine bar for diners, with musical accompaniment from Noah Nine. Who says you need a fancy dining room to have an elegant evening, eh?

It’s only been a little more than a year since Vancouver started allowing food trucks beyond the classic hot dog vendors, so it’s still something of an experiment. But with centers and shoppers climbing aboard, it’s likely to be a great success.

Shops at Don Mills is all about summer fun right through August. That means music, dancing and more. Every Monday and Wednesday it’s time to dance, with Latin Salsa dance lessons in the outdoor Town Square. Tuesdays and Thursdays are dedicated to yoga—free yoga classes in the cool of the evening.

Then there’s the music. Every second Saturday the center is featuring live music with all the passion of summer. From Quebecois quartets to Trinidadian percussionists, shoppers will enjoy sounds from around the world.

Then there’s the miniature train, taking shoppers on tours of the property and collecting proceeds for the Toronto Firefighters’ Toy Drive.

Summer may be running down, but that’s no reason not to enjoy the outdoor fun for a few weeks more. Back to school can’t wait, but a little summertime doesn’t hurt.
