Fall Arrives Fashionably at Stanford Shopping Center

All my favorite things about autumn can be summed up in two words: fall fashions. Boots, sweaters, deep colors—heavenly. Even better? Fashion you can get right off the runway, like those highlighted at Simon Fashion Now.

Last weekend, Stanford Shopping Center hosted the travelling fashion extravaganza, featuring looks for men and women from Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Brooks Brothers, Tommy Bahama, White House | Black Market and Nike Running. Shoppers who attended had the pleasure of a weekend full of great fashion events, with a solid foundation of up-to-the-moment fashion shows.

Discerning shoppers took in the Trends and Friends fashion night, with luxury brands on display on the runway and exclusive snacks and drinks from restaurants like The Melt and Pinkberry (the trendiest grilled cheese and frozen yogurt eateries around, respectively). There were, of course, samples, styling and secrets to be found.

Then there was the ultimate fashion battle: Design Wars. Style writer Carolyne Zinko from the San Francisco Chronicle emceed as students from the Art Institute of California — San Francisco brought their talents to bear on unique seasonal styles. The looks were judged by members of the local fashion scene and media.

Finally, shoppers were invited up to the plate for Ready! Set! Style!. Forget mannequins—chosen shoppers had the opportunity to style models from the show, who then took their new fashions up the runway. The audience chose its favorite of the styles from each competition, awarding the winning amateurs hefty Simon gift cards.

Chatswood Chase In Season

Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) has teamed up with Vogue Australia to bring shoppers at its centers the very best of the upcoming Spring and Summer fashion seasons with In Season. The two have prepared a wide range of fashion events for each of the developers tiers of centers.

The main difference is in the prizes up for grabs. At CFSGAM’s 17 Local centers, shoppers have a chance to win dream overseas holidays to Dubai, LA or Hawaii. Its 3 Prestige centers, including Chatswood Chase Sydney, will give customers the opportunity to win an afternoon with Vogue Australia’s fashion associate Penny McCarthy. Penny will style the winner for the afternoon, and the lucky shopper will also take away $2000 to spend on the must-have items she discovers in the process.

10 Metro centers will provide a chance to win a Glam Styling Weekend. That means flights and accommodations for two, a 2-hour styling session, a complete makeover and a gift card.

But those prizes are all just the icing on the cake of amazing fashion events. In Season’s ambassador Ricki-Lee, known for her talents in music, on television and as a model, will host a Glam Zone at many of the centers, sharing her fashion secrets with shoppers. Aside from her visit, there will be make-up demonstrations and trend styling tips.

The Shoppes at Chino Hills Was In the Pink in April

It’s always great to hear about big successes for great causes. Last month, The Shoppes at Chino Hills held In the Pink, a fashion show that celebrated local breast cancer survivors and promoted the then upcoming Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Over 800 people attended the show, which showed off spring fashions sytled by students of The Art Institute of California and modeled by breast cancer survivors.

“The Shoppes at Chino Hills was privileged to showcase and celebrate these women from our community who’ve battled breast cancer,” said director of marketing Sarah Corrigan. “Our retailers pulled out their newest and best fashions of the season to highlight these amazing ladies.”

The show went off without a hitch, with attendees having a great time and giving the models an enthusiastic standing ovation at the end of the event.

But there’s an even happier ending to this story: when The Shoppes hosted the American Cancer Society’s 3rd Annual Inland Empire Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, April 28, over 5000 walkers showed up to participate. When all was said and done, the event brought in over $60,000 for the cause, an impressive amount indeed.

The Fashion Capital Gets Festive for VIPs

So how does the Fashion Capital handle its VIP fashion party of the season? Chadstone gives us the answer, having held its big night earlier this week. And gosh does it sound luxurious.

Here’s how to start a party: shoppers at the VIP party who were over 18 were handed glasses of [yellow tail] bubbles to kick things off. And many retailers were on board with the bubbles as well, along with nibbles and treats and tasty little things. Good way to put shoppers in the right mood for a great shop.

It sounds like the night may have ended with a few tipsy shoppers, but Chadstone had that covered with free shuttle service all evening.

In between sips and sweets, there were a ton of opportunities for shoppers to get their fashion on. Designer Alannah Hill was present to style some lucky shoppers, and designers from Wittner, the Gival Collection, Digbys, and Little Joe Woman were on hand to meet and greet.

Live models provided entertainment at Calvin Klein Underwear, and live DJs entertained shoppers throughout the center. And, of course, shoppers could indulge themselves in mini spa treatments and other beauty offerings all night.

The Shoppes at Chino Hills Does Fall Fashion Project Runway Style

The Shoppes at Chino Hills has hot plans for its fall fashion show — GO2Style will be hosted by Project Runway personality Santino Rice.

Rice is probably best known for his time as a contestant on Project Runway, but he’s been a staple in the reality fashion TV circuit for several years, judging RuPaul’s Drag Race and starring in On the Road with Austin and Santino. Not only will he be emceeing the fashion show, he’ll be sticking around afterward for a meet and greet with fashion lovers.

The show itself will feature students from five nearby high schools. They’ll model the top looks from center retailers while local radio hosts spin tunes. Not only are the fashions from retailers, but beauty experts from the center will provide hair styling and makeup. Ten of the models are on The Shoppes at Chino Hills’ new Teen Fashion Council. The program encourages young students to take part in programs to develop fashion, retail public relations and presentation skills.

Following the fashion show, the center will hold a back-to-school supplies drive to benefit Boys Republic High School of Chino Hills. Shoppers can trade $10 in badly needed school supplied, with original receipt, for a $10 Shoppes gift card.
