Chadstone Tests Its Shoppers’ Fashion Skills


Chadstone is securing its place as The Fashion Capital with its preparations for the upcoming BMW Caulfield Cup Carnival.

When ladies and gentlemen head to the races, fashion is undoubtedly topmost on most minds. For those that are confident that they have mastered spring racing style, Chadstone holds its annual Fashion Stakes. Three categories of fashion lovers can enter: Stylish Ladies 18-40, Stylish Ladies 40+ and Stylish Gentlemen.

Heats take place throughout the Caulfield Cup events. Entrants need to pre-register online and then bring their best looks to the judging. They are expected to show off stylish spring racing fashions and millinery, and they’ll be judged on their overall outfit, accessories and attention to detail, seasonal appropriateness and deportment.

At stake is $70,000 in prizes for the winners, including great holiday packages. All participants will be tempted by swag bags from the center and its retailers as well.

Bramalea City Centre Finds its New Top Model


Bramalea City Centre is looking to make a local woman a new star in the modeling world, and it’s asking its shoppers to help.

The shopping center, along with Citytv’s CityLine, has solicited photos for the new face of Bramalea. To enter, participants submitted photos of themselves with a short essay on why they deserve to win. At the time of this writing, the contest is down to the top five entries, and shoppers are voting for their favorites.

The winner will receive a one year modeling contact with a Toronto-based agency and a featuring role in a Bramalea City Centre campaign. Voters have a chance to win a $500 gift card just for voting. With a chance like that up for grabs, it’s no surprise the entrants have taken to the center’s Facebook page to solicit votes – and shoppers seem to love that personal connection.

Bayfair Finds the Next Big Fashion Star


Looking for the rising stars of fashion? Look no further than Bayfair Shopping Centre.

The shopping center is taking part in the search for New Zealand’s Young Fashion Stylist. It’s looking for a young fashionista aged 14 to 17 to become one of four national finalists in the competition.

Entrants were invited to send in a drawing or clothing montage of their favorite summer look. The chosen stylist will become the Tauranga finalist in the competition, and will get a grab-bag of goodies: a six-month subscription to Girlfriend Magazine, a $200 prize pack from Maybelline New York, a total of $1300 in of Bayfair vouchers over four months, and a spot in a full page spread of the finalists in the November 2010 issue of Girlfriend.

Each month, the finalists will put together looks using their shopping center vouchers and their Maybelline products. Each look will go to an online vote, and the finalist with the most votes at the end of the four months will win the title of New Zealand’s Young Fashion Stylist.

The winner will take home a year’s subscription to Girlfriend, a professional make-up kit and a full-page feature.

A Patent on Looking Good at Fairview Mall


Do your shoppers have style all their own? Toronto’s Fairview Mall wants its shoppers to own their styles, so it’s launched Patent Your Style as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.

During the 40 day contest, Fairview shoppers will have the chance celebrate individuality by securing the “patent” on their styles. Shoppers can visit the mall’s Patent Office to get a photo taken. Teams of shopping center staff will also be on the lookout for individuals with big-time style. The photos will be uploaded to the promotion’s microsite (which just oozes style itself).

Daily winners will be drawn to win a $40 Cadillac Fairview gift card. And on the final day, all entries will be included in a draw for a grand prize of $4000 in gift cards.

It’s all part of Fairview Mall’s celebration of 40 years of individuality – a great milestone to achieve.

White Rose Finds the Future of Fashion


White Rose Shopping Centre is looking for the newest face in the fashion world – so up and coming, only his or her middle school classmates know it.

That’s right, the UK center is looking for its Young Fashion Designer 2010. It’s looking for male or female designers in three categories: ages 9-11, 12-14, and 15-16. The shopping center is teaming up with the Yorkshire Evening Post to find these fashion forward youngsters. Designs will be judged by leading fashion figures from around the world, who will choose two designers from each age category. A third semi-finalist from each category will be selected by the newspaper’s readers. And all nine finalists will take part in the White Rose Autumn Fashion Show in September.

Eight runners up will take home cash prizes £50 in recognition of their skill and hard work, but the overall winner will go even further. He or she will walk away with the White Rose Shopping Centre Young Fashion Designer of the Year title. The winner’s outfits will be made and sold by Republic, a leading fashion retailer. And the winner will take an all-expenses paid trip to London Fashion Week for a taste of what may be to come.
