THE HIGH LIFE AT HIGHCROSS LEICESTER
This week marks the grand opening of Highcross Leicester. On September 4th, the spectacle will begin with speeches celebrating the event. These will be followed by “The Burst Out,” in which acrobats, dancers and other entertainers emerge from a group of boxes to perform exciting routines.
The afternoon of the opening will feature the “River of Silk,” with 24 silk banners, borne by members of community groups, being paraded through the city to the new mall. Performers will be on hand to entertain the crowds all afternoon.
The ceremonies will continue into the evening with a paper lantern parade, led by the children of Leicester, followed by the release of 300 lit balloons into the nighttime sky. Finally, the day will close with a light show of pyrotechnics, fire performers, light projectionists and more.
The £350million will be home to 120 stores, and is anchored by Debenhams, House of Fraser, and John Lewis.
