RECon MENA’s Just Around the Corner


Just a reminder: RECon MENA is coming right up. This year’s theme is Back to the Future, a particularly apt concept as we begin to have the breathing room to look ahead once more.

The 2012 RECon Middle East & North Africa (MENA) shopping centre industry conference is scheduled for November 11-13 at the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It’s organized jointly by the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

“With economies throughout the world improving and consumers satisfying their pent-up demand for goods and services, shopping centre professionals want to know if it’s back to business as usual or has the consumer’s shopping habits, wants and desires forever been altered. While no one can accurately predict the future, it is clear that what made shopping centres successful in the Middle East in the first place – great brands, good food, and exciting entertainment options – will never go out of fashion. Therefore during the 2012 RECon MENA Conference we will take a look back at our past successes with the goal of improving upon them to ensure that the shopping centre industry has a bright and prosperous future,” explained MECSC President Rashid Doleh, co-founder and partner at mSquared Shopping Centres, LLC.

The conference will also feature the second year of the Middle East and North Africa Shopping Centre Awards, where centers will be recognized for their successes and innovations in the categories of Marketing, Design and Development, and Retail.
