McARTHUR + COMPANY Joins Mall of Qatar
The developers of Mall of Qatar have appointed McARTHUR + COMPANY to lead its marketing and retail leasing efforts. It’s a super regional project planned to open in the third quarter of 2015, right next door to the Al Rayyan Sports Club—a host stadium in the FIFA 2022 World Cup.
The center could well contain a stadium itself—with over 162,000 square meters of leasable retail space, it’s the size of about 50 FIFA football pitches. It will have space for 400 shops including a major grocer, give department stores, 20 international restaurants and an indoor streetscape with double height flagship stores.
“The Mall of Qatar standards will be the highest in the market. Consumers and retailers will experience a wonderful collection of fashion, restaurants and community services,” said Shem Krey, deputy managing director at the center. “After carefully reviewing the competitive shopping centre landscape in Doha, we selected McARTHUR + COMPANY due to the depth of their team and their success rate of delivering successful large format shopping centres”
