Last Second Opportunity: ICSC Seeking Economic Recovery Volunteers
As part of the ICSC Alliance Program, ICSC is reaching out to interested individuals for a fascinating volunteer opportunity in Western Canada.
Volunteers will support the Economic Developers Alberta (EDA) and the British Columbia Economic Development Association (BCEDA) with their Economic Disaster Recovery Project (ERDP). As members of Economic Disaster Recover Teams, they’ll perform needs assessments and analysis for recovery in communities that have been hit by major floods recently.
The project is looking for economic development professionals, but also experts in land use, business retention and expansion, investment attraction, tourism marketing, redevelopment and reuse—key talents of many of our readers.
If you’re interested, hop right over the the online application form—applications need to be in this week, on or before Friday, November 1st.
A bit more information from the organization:
“This is an opportunity to support the Alberta and British Columbia Economic Disaster Recovery Project (ERDP). Each team will consist of 3-4 professionals who will spend approximately 1.5 to 2 days in a community. Team members will be provided background information on the community in advance, participate in interviewing local stakeholders, and assist in the development and presentation of observations and recommendations on recovery action steps and strategies for both the short and long-term. Site visits have been booked between November 13 – December 6.
After the site visit, EDA/BCEDA will write a brief memo based on the team’s observations and recommendations. Team volunteers will be asked to review and comment on the draft memo/report. Reports will be due within two weeks of each community visit.
The ERDP will cover travel expenses of volunteers participating on the teams; however it is greatly appreciated if your organization can cover part or all of your costs.”
