ICSC Moves U.S. MAXIs to RECon 2014
Big news out of the International Council of Shopping Centers this week. The U.S. MAXI Awards—the ones our American readers have no doubt poured their hearts into entering—has moved. In order to give your accomplishments a place on a more prominent national stage, ICSC has moved the US MAXI Awards to RECon.
Since RECon has already passed this year, that means the next awards ceremony will take place in 2014. It’s a move that’s sure to inconvenience some of you, but the organization has already answered a number of the big questions. This year’s event, scheduled for September 24, will be cancelled. Entries that have been submitted for this year’s award are safe, but the entry deadline will be extended to February 12, 2014. On the plus side, that gives you a ton of extra time to perfect your existing entry. It does, however, extend the competition to programs completed between January 1, 2012 to January 31, 2014.
ICSC is still finalizing details, but expect special programming and access to be made available to award finalists and attendees—you won’t need to be a fully registered RECon attendee. We’ll bring you more details as we get them.
RECon 2014 will take place between May 18 – 21, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. One more time: the new deadline is February 12, 2014, and you can enter and get more information from the ICSC.
