CBRE Makes Socially Sustainable Honor Roll

418careA little bit of nice news from CBRE Group this month: it was named to the Companies That Care Honor Roll for the sixth year running.

A little background: Center for Companies That Care is a U.S. not-for-profit organization that supports social sustainability. It looks for employers that work to improve the lives of employees, families and communities, and engages those that attempt to do the same.

“These employers are truly engaged with their employees,” said Marci Koblenz, Center for Companies That Care’s Co-founder and President. “They show a commitment to helping people achieve career goals as well as life goals. There is no doubt these organizations are companies that care and are examples to follow.”

CBRE has the particular honor of being the only commercial real estate services firm on the list. Honor Roll employers are selected for their adherence to the organizations 10 characteristics of socially responsible employers—among others, that means sustaining a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees; developing great leaders, at all levels; establishing standards for ethical behavior and integrity; and getting involved in community endeavors and/or public policy.

“CBRE is proud to provide a workplace that benefits our employees and the communities in which we live and work,” says Laura O’Brien, Global Director of Human Resources & Workplace Strategy. “We are honored that these efforts have been recognized by our sixth consecutive selection for the Companies that Care Honor Roll.”

“We’re in a people-oriented business and people are the most important asset to ensure our success, for today and for tomorrow. We’re committed to attracting, developing and retaining best talent to service our clients. To achieve this, we’re building a strategy in China surrounding people, work and place to generate maximum efficiency and effectiveness whilst maintaining a robust team culture,” added Ivan Poon, President of CBRE in China.
