2012 RECon Keynote Speakers Announced
Heading to this year’s RECon? It’s not far off now, just a smidgen over three months. If you decide to attend, you’re in for a treat: the opening keynote speaker has been announced, and it’s Malcolm Gladwell, one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people.
Gladwell will be opening the show on May 20th, bringing RECon attendees his gift for interpreting new ideas in the social sciences and making them practical and applicable to business professionals. If you don’t know, he’s the author of books that include “The Tipping Point,” “Blink,” and “Outliers.” These books are inspirational looks at how small advantages can make all the difference, how information grows and spreads, and how brief impressions can be more powerful than thorough consideration.
There are more fascinating keynote speakers to come as well: the Monday, May 21 keynote session will feature former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Trent Lott (R-MS) squaring off in a live “Meet the Press” style debate moderated by NBC’s Chuck Todd. The panel is sure to offer an in-depth look at the political spectrum and what the outcomes of upcoming elections might mean for retail real estate.
The luncheon keynote on Tuesday, May 22 features Leslie Wexner, founder of Limited Brands, a company that has evolved from an apparel based specialty retailer to an approximately $10 billion segment leader over the past 49 years. Mr. Wexner will discuss the current state of retail, trends, and his expectations for the future.
Sounds like a fascinating series of talks, doesn’t it? If they’ve caught your attention, you can register or learn more at the 2012 RECon Las Vegas website.
