Insider’s Tip of the Week: David Erath

0709santa.gifThis week’s tip comes to us from David Erath, Owner and President of Santa’s Quarters:

“If sustainability is part of your shopping center’s mandate, then think about using LED Christmas lights this year. LED lights last many times longer than incandescent ones and use 80 to 90 percent less energy. Nowadays, commercial Christmas trees can be ordered with LED lights. They’ll not only save money and energy, but also time since you won’t have to replace the bulbs over and over again.
Another holiday décor strategy is to use shatterproof commercial Christmas ornaments rather than traditional glass ornaments. They’re safer for public display and won’t make a mess if one does happen to break.
Whatever décor program you select, be sure to plan and order early. Large or custom commercial orders should ideally be placed in July or early August at the latest. By mid-summer, the factories are often over-committed on custom orders. It can also take three to four months from the time a custom order is placed to the time it arrives at the mall, so it’s important to be first in line.”
