Vaughan Mills Plans Greener Parking
How do you reward the shoppers who are doing their part for a greener world? It might seem like an odd question, but Vaughan Mills has an answer. Starting this month, it’s dedicating twelve of its best parking spots for people who are doing their part for the environment.
Called “Smart Parking,” this sustainable transport initiative looks to make life a little easier for shoppers who are willing to go to the trouble of finding sustainable transportation to the center. Two prime spots at each of the center’s six entrances will be reserved from now on for cars registered to car sharing initiatives and cars that have light carbon footprints. That includes members of Carpool Zone, a carpool matching service for commuters, and members of Zipcar, a car-sharing program. Drives of hybrid or electric cars can also take advantage of the spots.
It’s a sensible step for a healthy planet, and one that’s only likely to grow as demand for electric vehicles and other alternative transport expands.
