Vancouver Fashion Week Promotes Great Causes

313vfwVancouver Fashion Week is coming up next week. For six days, over 20,000 guests will enjoy the work of award-winning designers from over 30 global fashion capitals. While they do, they’ll be part of VFW’s charitable efforts.

This year, the event has partnered with three charitable organizations, raising awareness, soliciting donations and participating in great causes.

One is the Fraser Riverkeeper Society. VFW will partner with the society to educate and inspire audiences, sharing its mission to protect, conserve and improve the water quality and fish habitat of the nearby Fraser River and its watershed. VFW also supported the Workout to Conquer Cancer, which took place earlier this week.

For a particularly special touch, though, Vancouver Fashion Week is working with Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon to make one girl’s dream come true. Alicia, a 15 year old with a deep love for fashion and design, will take part in Fashion Week. She’ll be given unprecedented behind-the-scenes access, working with Stephanie Wang, founder of Canadian label Nina Tan. The two will work together to co-design a custom gown that Alicia will showcase at VFW’s Opening Gala. She’ll enjoy the full VIP treatment, sharing the spotlight and getting made up for the gala by award-winning makeup artist Gloria Kim.
