Turn out your lights and Vote Earth


0219vote.gifCause Marketing: Cause Marketing is the art of combining your commercial brand with a non-profit issue. Cause marketing campaigns have years of history and range from relatively superficial tactical partnerships, to long-term, strategic alliances that penetrate deeply into business and nonprofit organizations.

On Saturday, March 28, the world is holding a vote: Lights out for earth, lights on for global warming.

This will be Earth Hour’s third year. In 2008, 50 million people participated. In 2009, the organizers are hoping for a billion participants. 500 cities in 75 countries are committed so far, and the promotional activity is starting to heat up.

To participate, all you strictly need to do is turn off the lights for one hour, at 8:30 PM on March 28. But this is also a great excuse for an event. An outdoor concert, orĀ  party by candle-light, perhaps?

Either way, this is a great initiative with a lot of buzz, so if you’re not already planning to participate, you might want to give it some thought.
