The Swan Centre Makes Eco-Friendly Fun
This weekend, the Swan Centre will be the destination of choice for shoppers looking to have some fun while learning how to help out Mother Nature.
At 10am Saturday morning, Chris Hugne, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change will launch the center’s environmental weekend. The event will give shoppers opportunities to learn all about ways to save energy with workshops and demonstrations from the Environment Centre. The Swan Centre will provide a great example of a number of those energy-saving techniques as the result of its efforts to reduce energy use and waste.
The Eco Doll’s House will highlight eco-options, while local food producers offer samples of local produce and preserves. Kids can take in the Eco Art Gallery, which will display winning sculptures from local schools’ Solar Challenge (as well as other eco-inspired artwork). They can also try out some plant potting and see how much power it takes to pedal-power a Game Boy.
Visitors can win prizes by exploring the eco-treasure trail, which will lead shoppers to discover what some of the center’s retailers are doing to help the environment.
