The Hildreds Closes Out a Successful Year of Fundraising
Back in December we told you about the annual Christmas display at the Hildreds Shopping Centre, which draws in shoppers excited to see what Deputy Manager Steve Andrews has created each year.
The benefits to the center’s foot traffic are undeniable—December 2013 saw the center’s best Christmas yet, with a 20.9% increase in footfall. But the center’s draw also has a secondary benefit: it helps the charities the center supports.
Last year, The Hildreds Centre opened up its two vacant units to raise funds for local charities. The spaces were given over to community groups and organizations that specifically benefited people in and around the Skegness and Lincolnshire area. Topping things off with its successful Christmas season, the center helped raise in excess of £70,000 through these pop-up units.
“It is a fantastic amount to raise and we are proud of our association with the charities that have worked so hard, giving up their own time to collect such an amazing sum,” said Andrews. “In a time when there are so many negative stories, it is nice to hear of a community coming together with one common goal – to raise money to help local charities. Altogether we helped 84 charities and will continue to help and support more worthy causes throughout 2014.”
“We have held craft fairs, community workshops and supported the Skegness Lifeboat Station (RNLI), police, ambulance and Fire Brigade as well as showing the visitors to Skegness what a thriving art scene we have here. It has been a huge success. The displays changed every week ensuring something new and vibrant for our visitors to see every time they entered the centre.”
