Sunset Galleria Makes Snowflakes for Sandy Hook

In the days following the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, people who weren’t directly effected by the events shared one sentiment over and over: a feeling of helplessness. Who doesn’t wonder what they can possibly do to help after events of such enormity?

Forest City Enterprises offered shoppers at centers like Sunset Galleria the opportunity to do a little good for the student of Sandy Hook and maybe feel a bit more useful in the process. It launched Operation Snowflake.

The initiative is partly a fundraiser, but more than that, it’s a chance for shoppers to take just a bit of responsibility for making the return to their new school a little better for the survivors. At Sunset Galleria, a craft center was opened at the holiday gift wrapping station, and the center provided supplies for the cause: making snowflakes that will be used to turn the school into a safe winter wonderland.

For shoppers who couldn’t make it in for the activity, a mailing address was provided for snowflakes and donations to be sent.
