Sherway Gardens Makes a Wish Come True
Sherway Gardens made a wish come true earlier this month. Together with Make-A-Wish Canada, the center helped one 14 year-old girl enjoy a trip to a real mall.
Taylor is living with Aplastic Anemia, a life-threatening illness that prevents her bone marrow from producing enough red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets for her body. This puts her at serious risk for life-threatening infections or bleeding. Like most 14 year olds, Taylor just wanted to be able to spend a day shopping at a real mall, but there are none in her hometown. Make-A-Wish Canada reached out to Sherway Gardens and the pair made sure her wish came true.
“When we heard about Taylor’s wish to shop, we wanted to help,” said Lisa Resnic, Senior Marketing Director for Sherway Gardens. “We want to make sure that her day is truly memorable.”
The center presented Taylor with a $100 gift card to get her day started. She was presented with an “Honorary Guest” badge and escorted throughout the center while she shopped. Guest services documented her day and made a scrapbook as a momento.
Several retailers helped make Taylor’s day just perfect, with a free lunch, a new hairstyle and plenty of lovely gifts. CTV News covered the trip, which was a great success.
