Sears and Rebuilding Together Help Heroes At Home
This month, Sears is working with Rebuilding Together to bring together $250,000 for servicemen and women in need. Operation Rebuild for Heroes at Home invites Facebook fans to vote on grants that will allow Rebuilding Together to renovate and rebuild the homes of military families who need the support of their country.
“Veterans and the men and women of the military are the backbone of our great country,” said Dave Friedman, SVP and president of marketing for Sears Holdings. “Through the Heroes at Home online community, we want to give our customers a chance to help the brave men and women who protect our country and provide a place where those who serve and support our military can connect and engage with one another.”
Visitors to the Sears Facebook page have found stories from Rebuilding Together affiliates across America. The stories explain what the affiliate does, and what they would do with a share of the grant money. From helping individual veterans with home improvements to creating transitional housing for veterans who are struggling to return to civilian life, the stories are heartbreaking and inspirational.
Each day, Facebook users can place one vote for the affiliate of their choice. When the votes are tallied at the end of September, 25 of the affiliates will be awarded a portion of the $250,000 pool at Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels.
