Santas Support the Troops
Every wonder what Santa does with all those months he has off? In the case of mall Santas, the answer may be a lot of training and even more good.
This year sees the third annual Santa University (organized by Noerr Programs) taking place later this week, from July 16-19. This year, fifty Santas will get together to learn The Art of Being a Genuine Santa. That includes looking the part, staying in character, and sharing Santa’s famous generosity.
As part of that great generosity, the Santas and their wives will spend part of the first day of training putting together care packages for US troops. Two hundred care boxes will be assembled and filled with everyday necessities, special treats and handwritten letters from Santa. Dubbed “Operation Santa’s Stocking,” the effort should bring a holiday smile to hundreds of soldiers stationed in Iraq.
Once the Christmas season comes around, these generous, well-trained Santas will be deployed at malls across the country, and a handful of military bases.
