Retail Ready People Completes its First Round

Have you heard about Retail Ready People (RRP)? It’s a UK program that’s largely focused on high street retail, but it could have far-reaching (and extremely positive) consequences for UK retail on the whole.

Organized by non-profits Retail Trust and vInspired, RRP is a free 12-week skills development program that gives youth the opportunity to set up and run a pop-up shop on their local high street. It helps youth build extremely valuable career skills and deals with those depressingly empty shop fronts in one blow.

vInspired has a great look back at the first two RRP shops, which were great successes. Now it’s moving into Leeds and Rochdale, and taking new recruits. Meanwhile, the 60 volunteers from round one in Brighton and Enfield have learned not only the tricks of the customer service trade, but buying, merchandising, recruitment, PR, marketing, and a lot more.
