Get Moving
May 1st is a little too near to work a brand-new annual initiative into your shopping center’s schedule, but if you’re thinking about what you’ll be doing next spring, you might want to think about World Fitness Day.
This year’s event is the first of what promises to be a vigorous annual event. Spearheaded by Jane Fonda, the event brings together thousands of participants at an Atlanta stadium. The participants will be led in a 50 minute workout by famous celebrity trainers including Jane Fonda, Denise Austin, Richard Simmons, Billy Blanks and choreographer Debbie Allen. The Pointer Sisters and Ludacris will also be on hand to offer encouragement and entertainment.
The surrounding Fitness Zone will offer interactive activities, product demonstrations and giveaways, wellness screenings, stretching and chair massage, healthy snacks and more. Pro athletes will be on hand for demos and autographs, and fitness groups will strut their stuff to entertain the crowd. The whole thing will be streamed on UStream for those who can’t make it out.
This particular event benefits the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, but fitness is always a great cause. Hopefully next year this world event will happen on a truly global scale.
