Gaming for Sick Kids at Redmond Town Center
This weekend, gamers around the world will undertake an arduous challenge: 25 straight hours of gaming, all in the name of charity. It’s called Extra Life, and its mission is simple: Play Games. Heal Kids.
Uncle’s Games at Redmond Town Center is taking part in the project, which raises funds for Children’s Miracle Networks. Uncle’s is setting aside its gaming tables for 25 hours of board games, card games and more. It’s expecting hundreds of gamers to attend, to organize pledges for their hours of gaming, and to have a great time while raising money for sick kids.
In the name of that great time, the retailer is bringing in some friends—local game publishers and game designers will be on-hand to meet their fans, sign boxes and teach their games. Uncle’s will be holding tournaments and silent auctions to raise extra money. There will also be a lounge for participants to rest and refuel.
Extra Life has raised millions for the charity since it’s inception in 2008, with over $2 million raised last year alone. The one-day event gets a one-hour bonus this year: it falls on the Daylight Savings switch in the US.
Oh, and if you happen to be a closet gamer and you’re wondering if you can participate—it might be a bit late to organize an event, but most people play along at home.
