Foster Care Fortnight Visits Glasgow Fort

523fosterAction for Children is a UK-based children’s charity that, among other things, helps families, children and carers involved in fostering. Being that it’s Foster Care Fortnight, the organization is hitting the road.

The Foster Care Fortnight Roadshow is taking the organization from center to center to help educate the public about the possibilities of getting involved as a foster carer. According to Action for Children, a child comes into care every 22 minutes. Currently there’s a shortage of nearly 9000 foster carers across the UK, and a huge number of potential carers that aren’t aware they can get involved.

Artist Scott Walker has worked with children and youths in foster care to create amazing superhero artwork. The roadshow brings Walker and a gallery of heroes to Glasgow Fort next week. Walker and representatives fo Action for Children will be on hand to meet with shoppers and teach them about foster care. Shoppers young and old will also have a chance to get arty and make their own superhero masks.
