Erin Mills Redevelopment Teams Up With a Good Cause
We recently brought you news of Erin Mills Town Center’s $100 million renovation, which is currently underway. Now we have even better news from the center: the renovation will serve the center’s community in a tangible way through a partnership with Mississauga’s Habitat for Humanity.
“The collaboration will see all salvageable building materials and fixtures from the renovation donated to Habitat for Humanity Mississauga to be reused in Habitat homes and sold at their Habitat Restore centre, says Nance MacDonald, center Vice President. “Their contribution to the community is well known and very respected. We’re very pleased that a lot of this material will be used again.”
Erin Mills Town Centre embraces all the principles of carbon footprint reduction and strongly believes in actively contributing to a “green” Mississauga. They are the recipient of the prestigious BOMA Canada (Building Owners and Management Association) 2012 Earth Award.
Habitat for Humanity is also pleased with the partnership. “We are delighted to partner with Erin Mills Town Centre in their upcoming renovation,” says Pat Lawrence, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity, Mississauga. “As an organization, Habitat for Humanity diverts tons of materials from landfills each year. This is the first partnership of its kind in Mississauga and to be the recipient of such an enormous quantity of quality recyclable materials is truly amazing.”
