Celebrity Cards for Christmas

Cause marketing campaigns have years of history and range from relatively superficial tactical partnerships, to long-term, strategic alliances that penetrate deeply into business and nonprofit organizations.

Celebrities and causes go hand in hand. CardsDirect hatched a plan to take a fairly straightforward line of Christmas cards and give them a bit of celebrity appeal.

The personalized card company secured itself a small presence at the HBO party for this year’s Emmy Awards. At their booth, they offered celebrities a chance to pick a card design to sponsor with their signature. CardsDirect is reproducing the cards with the celebrity endorsement on the back, along with the logo of a charity the celebrity chose. Net proceeds from the cards will go to the chosen charity.

As with National Doodle Week, the trick to getting celebrities involved is to take as little of their time as you can. And while your mall may not have connections to big-time Hollywood stars, you probably have access to local celebrities that your shoppers would really appreciate. Now’s the time to use those connections for the sake of a good cause.
