Bayfair Shopping Centre Creates a Christmas Miracle in March
It’s great to see a real good Christmas story, even in the month of March. Bayfair Shopping Centre just wrote the end of its own holiday tale by making a bunch of youngsters’s lives much happier.
The funds raised through center’s gift-wrapping donations and Scene to Believe photo packages were collected up for a great cause: putting together an adolescent lounge at Tauranga Hospital. The small things can go a long way, and the center stocked up. The funds went toward purchasing furniture, including chairs, cushions, ottomans and a large activity table. They also picked up 50 books, more than 35 art and craft items, a laptop, digital camera, stereo, personal DVD players and cooking appliances.
“The team at Bayfair is delighted with the flood of donations received and would like to thank shoppers for showing their support,” says Bayfair marketing manager Nina Rivett. “We would also like to thank Bayfair retailers Farmers, JB Hi-Fi and Whitcoulls for their generosity and assistance in helping to select the equipment for the adolescent lounge. The donations received were able to be spread a lot further thanks to the support of these retailers.”
Youngsters go through great stress when they receive hospital treatments, and while people are usually happy to donate to children’s causes, adolescents often get overlooked. The lounge will give them the chance to relax, hang out and feel normal, which is a big part of the healing process.
