Bandanas for Hope


0924hope.gifCause Marketing: Cause Marketing is the art of combining your commercial brand with a non-profit issue. Cause marketing campaigns have years of history and range from relatively superficial tactical partnerships, to long-term, strategic alliances that penetrate deeply into business and nonprofit organizations.

The Sunflower Fund’s National Bandana Day is coming up on October 14th. The Sunflower Fund works to register the bone marrow and stem cell donors needed to treat South Africa’s ethnically diverse population for leukemia and blood disorders. The Fund is attempting to raise money and awareness, of course, but with Bandana Day, it’s also trying to raise hope.

Shoppers at malls across the country can purchase bandanas to wear on the big day as a reminder of those who suffer from leukemia. Schools and companies are encouraged to knot their bandanas together to create a Rope of Hope. The ropes will go on display at Cedar Square during a day of music, entertainment and celebration, and the school with the longest rope will win a prize.

In the nicest touch of all, the Ropes of Hope will then be taken and sewn into colorful duvets to brighten up children’s cancer wards, bringing hope and smiles to kids who really need it.
