Chadstone's Culinary Celebration
Chadstone, in Victoria, AU, celebrates tasty spring treats this weekend at the Chadstone Festival of Food. On Friday, cookbook author Donna Hay kicks things off by cooking of recipes from her new book, followed by a signing.
This is followed up with a busy weekend of activities. Some of the delicious demonstrations include lessons on cooking for a healthy lifestyle, cooking with fresh produce, baking bread, and cooking pasta. For the more decadent shoppers, there will be wine tasting events, cocktail recipes, and a barista competition.
The festival commemorates the opening of Chadstone’s fresh food precinct, which includes supermarkets, gourmet food markets, and eateries.

Shopping centers jump for joy
Nearly a dozen Australian shopping centers are asking shoppers to jump for a good cause next month with Jump for Wishes. The charity event supports Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia, which works to lift the spirits of seriously ill and hospitalized children.
Shoppers at AMP Capital Shopping Centres will participate in what will hopefully be the world’s largest simultaneous “star jump” (something like a jumping jack). Participants will pay 5 dollars to take part in the world record attempt, with proceeds going to the charity. Good luck to them!

Braehead's Fairy Godmother brings smiles this season
When the economy is looking grim, it’s important to remember that there are marketing opportunities to be had. That’s the lesson shared by Braehead Shopping Centre in Glasgow, UK.
The shopping center is enchanting shoppers with its new promotion: the Braehead Fairy Godmother. Every day between October 30th and December 6th, she’ll be giving away a £500 gift card to one lucky shopper. That should help take the edge off a shopping trip this season.
And as if that weren’t enough, Braehead will also be giving away one very special prize: free shopping for a year. The lucky winner will receive £1000 in Braehead gift cards every month in 2009.
This promotion is sure to improve foot traffic this holiday season. It’s so cheerful and lighthearted – who could resist?
